For some reason, these islands have resisted the dissolution that has eaten away all the rest of the rock. But they're still limestone structures which are relatively soft and the perpetual wave action cuts away at the base leaving these overhangs.
Eventually, the rock above will cleave on some fissure and crash into the bay below. I wonder now what warning, if any, nature gives. I imagine none. Just a sharp ‘crack' and then the thunder of tens of tons of falling rock crashing into the seas below.
