Daily Photo – Honging Out

I titled today's photo, ‘Honging out' as that's essentially what we did once inside the hongs.

The inflatable sea canoes were very maneuverable with each of us having a guide doing the paddling and able to take us right up to the and the rocks.

Fifty or more years ago there might have been salt water crocodiles in the area but they were pretty much hunted out of the area, their skins turned into handbags and boots.

The trip I took was the only one running at the time. Now there are several, but if I went back, I'd return to John Gray's Sea Canoe.

John ‘The Caveman' Gray arguably discovered the hongs in 1989, having discovered and explored sea caves elsewhere. When I took my trip, then, he'd been running trips for a little over a year.

When I look at my photos from that day, there were just the three canoe's and since John isn't in any of my photos taken in the canoe, he must have been the guide paddling me! I posted a portait I made of the Caveman below today's image.
