Having arrived on location we inflated the canoes, left the mother-ship, paddled through the cave and found ourselves inside a hong.
OK, so we didn't paddle, the tour guides paddled. This was great because if left us with more time to look around rather than concern ourselves with navigating.
Inside the hong felt pretty much like paddling around inside a partially flooded quarry – calm water with sheer cliffs on all four sides.
In this photo you can clearly see that the water is tidal by the erosion on the rocks and the roots on the trees in the background.
