Next door to Ocean's Ten and the Edison is the Breakwater Hotel. It's hard to miss given the prominence of the name on the building! Blues, yellows and white are a repeating color theme on Ocean Drive. There are exceptions, of course. I was really drawn to that iconic sign, a beacon of the art deco district. This view is from the south looking north-east. At the far right you can just make out the roof of the Chevy Bel Air parked outside Ocean's Ten. By the exif data from the camera, I took this shot around 9:50 am or about 30 minutes after I took the shot of The Edgewater.
Once again, I finished this photo with a beta evaluation copy of onOne Perfect Photo Suite 7. I'm getting more familiar with the controls of Perfect Effects 4 and I like it a little more each time I use it. Tomorrow I'll post a happy accident I made while processing this photo. As with the last couple of posts, I combined multiple effects to arrive at this point. I really like the degree of control onOne provides. And since each effect sits in it's own layer you can experiment freely.

I'm also experimenting with the new Perfect B&W 1 that ships as part of the suite. Although in the beta version not all the presets are built out, there's an impressive set that is. At this time, though, I prefer to start with a neutral conversion and then adjust it myself. I tend to start at the top of the right-hand panel and work my way down though the numerous control panels. Again, the degrees of freedom and control that Perfect B&W 1 gives me is quite impressive.
