Today's photo is of the Royal Viking sun, berthed in Kowloon in 1989.
The Royal Viking sun was built in 1988, one year earlier, so like the Lippo Center Towers and the Bank of China Tower, she was essentially brand new at the time I took this photo.
Taken on 100 ISO slide film at dusk, the grain of the film is plainly evident in this scan. Likewise the incandescent and fluorescent lights are obvious from the yellow and green casts, respectively.
The original is quite dreary so I ran it through Photomatix to tone map it then blended the original and the hdr to arrive at this which I quite like.
As for the Royal Viking sun, in 1994 she transferred to Cunard when they bought the Royal Viking Line in 1984. When Carnival took over Cunard in 1999 she was renamed the Seabourn Sun and in 1992 was transferred to the Holland America Line and renamed the Prinsendam.
