I don't really know where I took this photo of a Maltese Angler but he was somewhere on the Tigné Seafront.
I was drawn mostly by his elaborately patterned sweater. There were a few other anglers along the seawall but this guy had found a bollard to sit on. All the anglers had these long fishing rods. What I can't tell is whether the rod is actually curved at the end or if he's caught something and is just playing it.
In many ways I think angling has parallels with photography, requiring lots of patience to get ready for an event and then intense bursts of activity when something other than you does something interesting. That said, I never really got into angling. My brother used to do a far bit when we were boys but it wasn't my thing though I do now enjoy occasionally taking my kids down to the lake at the end of our street and helping them cast their lines.
And me? Well, I photograph them fishing!
