Seattle Space Needle – Daily Photo

I came across this image of the Seattle Space Needle while browsing for something else recently. It was taken just before sunset on Fuji Velvia, hence the yellow tones of the structure. I remember when I took this photo I was in Seattle for an ‘Incineration ' to learn the ins and outs of industrial scale incinerators. I took a couple of days off after the to explore the area. Having lived in I'm left wondering if the Eiffel isn't the inspiration behind all these tall structures that cities just have to build. The Eiffel was build for the World's Fair of 1889 and is 324 meters tall. The Space Needle was built for the 1962 World's Fair but is only 184m tall. For a while, it was the tallest structure west of the Mississippi.
