Daily Photo – Bultfontein Camp

After Heuningspruit we found ourselves camped near Bultfontein. This was almost certainly taken with my Tamron 500mm mirror lens as my records show the next longest lens I owned at the time was a 300mm.
Heuningspruit is a really small town, if it even qualifies as a town, about 18 miles north-east of Kroonstad in the Free State. I took this photo of the sunrise from our camp there.
Look closely and you can see our camp pretty much centered side to side and just below the horizon. This view is almost certainly to the south-east, the mountains in the distance being in Lesotho. Most of our camps lasted less than a month before we were off again, nomads in Toyota Hiluxes.
If you look at yesterday's image you can see the telegraph pole to the left of center. Taken on the same day but with a telephoto and from a slightly different location.
Still in the Free State, the Theunissen camp once again provided some wonderful sunsets. Plus, here we were actually camped on some higher ground on the edge of the pond rather than in the pond. Of course, we were aided in this by the fact the pond had water in it when we arrived.
