Another day in Bothaville, another great sunset!
If we were at a camp for long enough (more than two weeks) we'd try to get the phone company to install a phone for us. In this particular case, the phone poles ran down the opposite side of the road from the camp. The lineman came out and they actually installed a new pole and ran a line for us across the road.
However, the road here was elevated about 3 feet above the camp so the phone line across the road was about 3 feet lower than the regular clearance. The line lasted a few days before a truck hauling a tractor came rolling on by and too our phone line with it. When the lineman came back out he tacked some battens to the poles on each side of the road to elevate the line back to regular clearance.
Of course, the biggest challenge we had was convincing the phone company to install a phone in a mobile trailer parked in some random field!
