I've titled the last in my camel series, ‘I've been spotted'. I wasn't watching the camel all the time, I had a reason for being there (not that I can remember the specific reason right now – maybe I was shooting an uphole close by).
The camel has wandered further away from me to the north-east but in this image it's as though it's looking directly at me (clearly evident at 100%). Maybe it was me or, if I was shooting an uphole more likely the rattle and hum of the drilling rig, the camel certainly looked in my direction one more time.
After taking this shot the camel went its way and I went mine. I never saw it again. I like to think it found what it was looking for and didn't end up like the desert shipwreck I posted previously – although we all end up as shipwrecks sooner or later – later hopefully.
The telephoto lens compresses the distance. From the camel to the hazy jebel in the background is about 20 km or 12 miles.
