Daily Photo – Reflections

I shot these from the cruiser on the Li River near Guilin in China.

The river was quite low and had been for some time judging by the vegetation sprouting on the rocky shores of the river. Here and there would be a pond, water trapped by and sand bars in the river.

These are of the karst cliffs reflected in the still water of one of these ponds. Closer to me the wind is slightly stirring the surface of the water while alongside the face it's glassy still.

The dip of the beds cause this reflection to form an arrow shape – there's all sorts of shapes and patterns to be seen if you let your eyes linger.

The karst formations are very similar to those of Phang Nga Bay in and formed in the same way.

The first photo today is a black and white, developed in the new Black and White Effects of onOne Software's Perfect Photo Suite 8. Below that is a colored rendering with a textured overlay applied in the Perfect Effects module.
