These two trees just stood out on the banks of the Li River as my boat cruised on by.
There are some farmers' shacks on the river bank also but my attention was drawn by the trees.
I wondered how these two got to grow so tall. What was special about them? Had there been others hereabouts that had been cut down over the years? Were these two awaiting the same fate?
The thatched roofs of the farmers shacks seemed somewhat familiar to me though they look somewhat thinner and less robust than the thatched roofs I grew up with in the Wiltshire countryside.
