Daily Photo – Faulty Shoreline
I took this photo I've titled Faulty Shoreline somewhere near the the Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa in Kota Kinabalu but I can't actually place it on the map.

Here's another shot of the beach at Pekan Teluk Bahang, Penang, Malaysia. If you take a look at my other photo of Pekan Teluk Bahang, you can see these two boats behind the buoy flags of the boat in the foreground. It's no so obvious that it's raining in this image.
I still have vague memories of the day I took off to ride around the island. I took off in an anti-clockwise direction from Georgetown staying as much as possible to the coastal road through Tanjong Bungah (don't know what Tanjong means but Bungah means 'flowers') and Batu Feringgi (which translates as 'Foreigner's Rock') before pitching up an Pekan Teluk Bahang (Teluk Bahang means 'Bay of the Heat Wave', no idea what Pekan means or if google maps is even correct).
Miami beach is dotted with these wonderful Lifeguard stations. They're named for the streets that would intersect the ocean if extended that far. That way, if there's an emergency, it's pretty easy to say where you are located. Each shack appears to be different in overall design and decoration.
South Beach, Miami, on a Friday morning at around 9:30. Having sauntered south on Ocean Drive to about 12th street I decided to head out to the beach a shade under 500 feet from the hotels and restaurants. Being 9:30am on a regular Friday there were not many people on the beach but the Boucher Brothers crews had been hard at work laying out sun loungers and umbrellas in anticipation of crowds to come.
Back in the late 80's when I made this trip, I couldn't swim. It would be another couple of months before I learned - spurred on in part by not being able to go snorkeling or diving in these waters. It seemed everyone was having so much fun! As a toddler, I almost drowned and had to be rescued by me father. If it hadn't been for my brother who was three at the time who ran off to tell my father that I'd fallen into the water tank, I'd probably have drowned.
