I passed these desert enclosures on the way back to camp one evening. Typically you wanted to be back in camp before sundown as sundown to darkness only took about 30 minutes. While the desert is deceiving during the day, it's doubly or more so at night.
Today's photo is a view about 135° anti-clockwise from yesterday's. It's of a recording flycamp in western Libya in 1990.
Here's a wider view of the same sunrise as in yesterday's photo. It shows our camp site at Bultfontein.
Heuningspruit is a really small town, if it even qualifies as a town, about 18 miles north-east of Kroonstad in the Free State. I took this photo of the sunrise from our camp there.
Still in the Free State, the Theunissen camp once again provided some wonderful sunsets. Plus, here we were actually camped on some higher ground on the edge of the pond rather than in the pond. Of course, we were aided in this by the fact the pond had water in it when we arrived.
