Daily Photo – Four Barrows
So the Four Barrows are on the ridge that separates Aldbourne Warren from North Farm. In this photo you can only see three of them, the fourth is hidden behind the stand of trees on the hillside.

The North Wessex Downs are the creation of some faceless, nameless, bureaucrat collecting together as a group downland better known by their local names such as the Berkshire Downs, White Horse Hills, Lambourne Downs, Marlborough Downs, Vale of Pewsey and Savernake Forest
Here's a wider view (despite being taken with a telephoto lens) of Aldbourne Warren. This was taken from close by the location of yesterday's photo of Aldbourne.
Here's a view of Aldbourne from the north-west. The track descends to the left an later passes the site of the Old Barn. If I was walking to the village for any reason, I'd know that at this point I'd be about half way there.
A little less than a mile north of Aldbourne along the B4192 there's a turn-off to the west. A short way along this track the paths bifurcate with the left hand track running along the base of the ridge and the right hand track running up the ridge towards Upper Upham.
As with Hellscombe Cottage there's a cottage at Aldbourne Warren that also sits snug to the base of the hill to their east. There must be some, most likely weather related, reason for this. Maybe it was close to water back in the day.
