Daily Photo – Which Way Now?
Which Way now? Forward is not an option. I've a vague thought in the back of my mind that I hiked up this escarpment one time, but its not firm enough of a memory for me really to believe it.

So here I am, standing on the edge of this escarpment in western Libya, miles from anywhere. Up ahead is the surveyor's offsider, standing by a ranging pole.
Not really life on Mars but if you wanted to fake a Mars landing you could do worse than this part of western Libya. Taken in 1990 it's almost a reverse view of this shot - in that it's the same escarpment, but looking down.
Here's a broader view of yesterday's photo. From here, the only way is up! With the surveyor standing by the blue Land Rover, you can see the Wild T3 Theodolite on the tripod and the Wild DI4L or DI5 distomat mounted on top of the theodolite.
The last two day's I've posted photos looking down on a bulldozer cutting a trail down an escarpment in western Libya. Today's photo is of surveying the escarpment looking up from the bottom.
Today I've a different angle on yesterday's photo that I've title, 'Dozing Off'. It better shows what was in front of the bulldozer as he cut a trail down the escarpment for us.
