The London Eye is a cantilevered wheel having support on only one side unlike other observation wheels in other cities. The wheel has 64 spoke cables that work like the spokes of bicycle wheel, holding the rim tight to the spindle in the middle of the wheel.
The London Eye currently has EDF Energy as a sponsor. The EDF stands for Electricité de France, of course; just as 20% of the iconic London Buses are operated by Deutsche Bahn - the German railroad company.

The traditional definition of a desert is based on a (lack of) rainfall figure - less than 250 mm (10 in.) rainfall per year. An alternative definition is a place that lacks sufficient vegetation to support human population. the English word desert comes from the Latin 'desertum' meaning an abandoned place.
Instead, slides now are plastic tubes. This has the advantage of preventing your precious little one from falling over the edge on the way down but has the side effect of slowing down the whole experience. On the upside, your hair looks wicked when you emerge - like you've been holding onto a Van der Graaf generator!
