Charcoal Kilns – Death Valley
These Charcoal Kilns are actually in Wildrose Canyon which is on the western side of the Panamint Range that itself forms the western edge of Death Valley proper.

Today's photos is from Cottonball Basin, Death Valley, California. It's a shot I took around sunset while visiting the valley recently.
I'd heard of Darwin Falls in Death Valley but never been there on previous visits so decided this was the time.
Our suite on the 15th floor had great views to the west but there were some downsides to the hotel. It's just across the freeway from Miami International Airport so depending on the direction of the traffic you can be kept awake by aircraft noise. The other downside is that without a car you're captive - there's nothing within walking distance of the hotel.
With a multi-capture HDR I'd have been able to get a much crisper shot of the moon. As it is, I'm quite happy with the sharpness given this was hand held at a shutter speed of 0.4 seconds after two glasses of wine!
Having dined in the Biltmore's Fontana restaurant, enjoying both the food and the service, we took a brief wander around some of the public areas of the resort. I already posted an image I took in the lobby and one of the pool. Today's image also included the pool but the view terminates the conference center. What drew me to this view was the color of the decor through the windows of the conference center.
