If you're in new york City, you need to make the time to visit the 9/11 Memorial. But don't go there as a tourist. Go there with reverence and respect for the innocent victims of that day. As you wander around the two pools marking the perimeters of the North and South Towers, don't ham it up for the camera but consider the events of 9/11/2001. Try to imagine you were trapped at the top of the tower, or you were a first responder rushing to help those injured and trapped. And take some time to reflect and mourn, not just those lost that day but also the freedoms, liberties and innocence we've all lost as a result. And give thanks for those within our communities who take it upon themselves to serve and protect us.
