So Front Crew laid the . Unlike the vib drivers they would get frequent breaks throughout the day, but then they'd walk a bunch of miles every day also.

As this photo from January 1991, shows, while the sun may be beating down, it's not always hot in the . There is a slight breeze blowing, probably cooler air from the north.

Everyone was provided with goggles to keep the sand out of they eyes but I preferred to wear my own ski goggles when I needed to. They fit better and the colored lens improved contrast a little. With their foam face seal, they also kept the sand out better as when it was really blowing up a storm, the sand would find it's way in through the vent holes on the safety goggles.

In this photo, the man in the green jacket has a template chain, marked at intervals to the guys behind where to drop the . Curiously there are three strings to the pattern but only two workers dropping off in this shot.

The guys following behind ensure the geophones were planted upright and buried to minimize noise. Then there's a guy just visible over the horizon linking them up and checking electrical continuity.
