Judging from the buildings in the background, I took this photo standing in the western quadrant and looking north-north-east at the intersection of Cross street and South Bridge Road in Singapore. The bus is traveling south-west on South Bridge Road. The rain had stopped a few hours earlier but the skies were still grey.
Again, from Google Maps it appears that the block to the right of the bus has been demolished and replaces in the intervening 23 years but the old block behind the bus on the left of the frame is still there – perhaps having been re-roofed.
Much like KL, parts of the old city were being torn down to be replaced though there was still plenty of character in the surviving streets as future postings will show. What stands out to me in this photo are the colors of the old buildings and the drab grey concrete of (most) of the new high-rises replacing them.
