Wandering around the streets of Georgetown in the evening I happened across a theater troupe performing for an audience that had gathered in the street. The stage itself was a sturdy construction set in a corner of the street so as not to obstruct the street during the day. The audience had brought their own chairs. There was no formal admission charge, no ushers to guide one to one's seat. Just a self ordered gathering. I was struck by the ornate costumes and backdrops and the makeup particularly on the female characters. Obviously I couldn't understand any of what was going on. I had arrived late so there was no hope for me to pick up the plot. But none of that really seemed to matter or interfere with my enjoyment of the spectacle.
