Two versions today, a black and white and a color rendering of the same scene titles, ‘The Last Load'.
I'd love to know the back story to this scene. One of our survey lines passed just a few meters from this abandoned truck, abandoned to the sand sea by some other work crew in some prior age.
The truck looks like an old Bedford, an earlier version of the trucks we used perhaps but maybe from the 60's. It looks like a hybrid water tanker / cargo truck.
On other crews I worked on we had Bedford trucks that were held 750 gallons of water and had a cargo section above. We used these to support our drilling rigs.
I'm guessing I'm never going to find out what happened to this one but I suspect it was likely near the end of its usable life and its owners decided it wasn't worth recovering.
