Perhaps the last image I'll post of these men on bamboo rafts on the li river near Guilin in China.
As this man paddles his raft (that's a paddle, not a pole in his hands), the raft sends ripples across the jade colored water. The color of the water comes from the river weed growing to just below he surface and the reflection of all the vegetation on the surrounding karst limestone hills on the river banks.
As with pretty much all the river workers here, this man has a well developed musculature, hinting at the strength and agility necessary to remain upright on these rafts.
